Psychotherapy and counselling are therapies that offer ways to explore difficulties and find solutions that can increase personal autonomy.
Psychotherapy is a type of therapy that involves exploring and reflecting on constraints in a person’s life. It is common to form automatic patterns in communicating with others and in how you think and feel about yourself. Sometimes these patterns become problematic and may lead to unpleasant thoughts, feelings and/or habits. The continuing influences of past experiences in earlier years can continue to impact on current day situations and relationships. Psychotherapy can bring about long-lasting change. It offers a confidential empathic professional relationship to increase your awareness of these limiting factors and attends to the underlying causes of these automatic patterns.
People seek psychotherapy for reasons such as experiencing uncomfortable or difficult thoughts and feelings or when feeling stuck in life. These thoughts and feelings may be related to a loss, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, sexuality, gender health, relationship challenges, stress at home or work life, questions and worries about identity, loneliness, and general unhappiness in life.
